HINDLEY AMATEUR SWIMMING CLUB RULES

 

1.       The club shall be called Hindley amateur Swimming Club and shall consist of a limited number of swimming members to be decided at the discretion of the Committee and consultation with swimming instructors or coach. All competing members shall be amateurs.

1.1    The age limit shall be 5 years of age to 75 years of age.

2.       The object of the Club shall be to promote and encourage all aspects of swimming.

3.       The officers shall consist of Chairman, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer and a committee of twelve members to be selected at the A.G.M. Other members to be co-opted as necessary. The Committee shall have the power to summon General meetings at any time when necessary. Two lay auditors or one professional auditor shall be appointed to examine the accounts and prepare statements and read same at the A.G.M. which shall be held in the month of November. Fourteen days notice of the A.G.M. shall be given to each member.

4.       Any member of the committee who is absent from three meetings in succession without sufficient reason shall be considered no longer a member of that Committee and the Committee shall be empowered to elect another member in his / her place. Five members shall form a quorum.

5.       The annual subscription shall be due on 1st January. Existing members must be re-registered before taking part in club activities. If fees are not paid in full, an initial amount is due in January followed by seven equal payments of no less than 1/8th of the fee due. If any members falls more than two months in arrears they will be suspended from the club until arrears are paid. Members may put their case for non-payments in front of the committee. The yearly fee to be decided at the first committee meeting after the A.G.M.

5.1    For new members joining the club, the fees will be reduced according to the date they join.

6.       Any member wishing to resign from membership shall give notice in writing to the Hon. Secretary prior to 31st December.

7.       Any new members must have registered and duly paid-up their fees before the first Tuesday in September in order to take part in the Hindley A.S.C. annual club championship galas.

8.       All officers, Committee members and swimming instructors to be given honourable membership each year whilst acting on behalf of the club.

9.       Entry to the Club Championships shall be accepted from:-

9.1    Members whose sole club is Hindley

9.2    Members who are also members of other clubs who are fully committed to the Hindley A.S.C.

Championships shall comprise of Junior Events – 13 and 14 years.  Senior Events – Open to members aged 14 years and over and Open events – open to any competing member. Ages as year of competition.

9.3    All trophies are the property of Hindley A.S.C. the club committee reserve the right at all times to request the holders of such trophies to return them to the club.

10.    Non-competing membership carries voting rights at the A.G.M.

11.    Any member using his/her ticket for purposes of admitting a non-member to Club privileges, or not complying with the request of the officers shall be dealt with by the Committee.

12.    The club reserves the power to expel any member by a majority of 2/3 at any General meeting, providing notice of such proposed expulsion is given on the notice calling the meeting and the accused is invited to attend and speak, to call witnesses and to question witnesses called against him/her. He/she may, if he/she wishes, be accompanied by another person to assist in presenting his defence. (see ASA Laws).

13.    All funds and properties of the Club shall not be paid or distributed amongst the members of the club other than for claims of legitimate expenses as laid down in ASA laws. In the event of the dissolution of the Club, the funds remaining shall be devoted to the objects similar to those of the club or some other charity approved by the Charity Commissioners.

14.    All Hindley A.S.C. swimmers must be prepared to make themselves available to swim for the club in competitions which the club from time to time enter. When required to do so by the team manager, any swimmer refusing to swim for the club, without sufficiently good reason being given to the swim team manager, may render themselves liable, upon a committee decision to have their eligibility to swim in the annual club championships withdrawn.

15.    The committee is empowered to refuse or withdraw membership of the club but a reason for refusal must be given. All applications for membership are liable to scrutiny by the Committee.

16.    All disputes which may arise concerning the foregoing rules shall be settled by the Committee, whose decision shall be binding.
